Could be because I live in an area where foreign exchange students indulge with their parents’ vast wealth. I usually see a morning piss-yellow M4 in my school’s parking lot, and while it certainly stands out, it doesn’t compel me to whip out my phone to take a picture.

My fiance didn’t realize a S4 and M4 was anything special but pointed out a RC-F. Who is doing cars right now...

I didn’t get the BMW hype until I drove (and bought) one. Trust me, even the base models are incredibly good vehicles. Older ones, at least. I’ve never driven a new BMW.

I was a BMW fanboy in high school. The hype died down for me.

BMW in general doesn’t do it for me.

I used to think they were overhyped status symbols. Then I drove one. It was so good, I decided I could deal with the stereotypes and bought one. On my 2nd now.

Yeah I get that, but just seeing one on the road, I’m not particularly excited.

They are everywhere, same as the 911. At least around here. Maybe I’m desensitized living in Atlanta, but it takes a McLaren or a cool classic these days to catch my attention.

The current gen of M cars are a bit meh to me, visually they all seem a bit fat. don’t get me started on cars like the M135i/M235i, if Mazda can fit a limited slip diff to an MX5 you can fit one a standard to your junior performance car.

F and G chassis bmws don’t do it for me. E chassis cars are something special, you can have a beater 7 series with a blown suspension and you’ll be amazed how its agile it is compared to a land yacht of the same era. But yeah we have the same issue with rich foreign kids with new M cars, they love piss yellow though.

I think it’s cause you’re in Atlanta. When I was in Texas I rarely saw M cars, unless I was in Houston.

Sheeet. down here in Tacompton I’ve only seen one M. It was a e36 (?) on I5. I gave him a thumbs up and he honked back at me <3

Probably because deep down, it has the underpinnings of an economy car. It even looks like a shitbox economy car with well-integrated go-fast bits, compared to anything designed from concept to manufacturing as a “pure” sports car.
M3/4, S3/RS3, GTI/Golf R, etc. do not excite be ever because of this. This is exactly what they are, though at least the Golfs make no bones about it. They are positively uninteresting.

I rarely see Porsches and M cars. Maybe I’d have to go to east Cobb, North Fulton and get a good sampling there.

Your logic is the M Cars don’t excite you because you see them all the time. But honda’s, quite possible the most commmon of any car make in the US, still excite you?

I dislike BMWs in general. I have never been excited to own one and can’t get a chance to drive one since everyone who owns one tends to be the kind of person who won’t let anyone drive their car.
